Students and student entrepreneurs are central to our work, and we couldn’t do the work that we do without our team of student helpers.
Our student team helps with promotions, events, admin., social media, blogging and vlogging, photography, graphic design, and pretty much everything else you can think of!
If you would like to become part of the LaunchPad student team, email an up-to-date copy of your CV, with a short paragraph on why you’d like to get involved and what talents and abilities you would bring to our team to email@example.com. Note, we currently have a number of student interns working with us at the moment but this is always changing, so if you're interested in working with us in the near future please send on your CV anyway or sign up to LaunchPad in the meantime!
Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours a week can I expect from LaunchPad work?
That really depends, both on your availability and our need any given week. We aim to run at least three events per week in the LaunchPad Space, and are always happy to have students helping at them, blogging about them, and promoting them. Busier times of year, like Freshers’ Week, and the LaunchBox pitch stages, will require more student help than usual!
Are there any professional development opportunities associated with this role?
We are committed to supporting and empowering our students in any way we can, and to that end are happy to help students gain valuable work experience to help them get where they want to be through this team. While we wish that all the jobs we passed on were creative, exciting and intellectually stimulating however, some administrative and event-related roles will be required of all our helpers!
How do I find out about work opportunities?
Once you have sent in your CV and the short paragraph and we have gotten back in touch with any follow up questions, you will be invited to join the Student Helper Slack channel through which requests for student help are sent.
What is the rate of pay for LaunchPad student helpers?
We generally pay our student team €10 per hour for their work with us.
How do I get paid?
If you have been paid by College (as distinct from the SU) before, then you need to drop in your signed, hard copy Casual Payroll Form listing your hours to Alison Treacy, the LaunchBox Program Manager. This form is downloadable here. Alison is based in the LaunchPad offices in the foyer of the Berkeley Library on campus. You should fill out parts A – C, leaving part D for Alison to fill out and submit.
If you have NOT been paid by College before, then you also need to fill out and submit in hard copy the Set Up Form for College Finance. This is available to download here. This should also be dropped in to Alison.
When and how often do I need to submit my pay form?
You should submit one Casual Payroll Form for all hours worked that month, and these forms need to be dropped to Alison no later than the 3rd of the month to be sent to Finance and processed. So for example, if you work hours in March, you should submit the form to Alison by 3 April to be paid. Please note that if the 3rd of the month falls on a weekend, the form should be dropped in the Friday prior.
When can I expect to be paid?
Casual payroll is paid on the last working day of the month. This is decided by and processed by Finance. Occasionally, payment can be delayed due to your bank’s processing time.
